Greene County Farm Bureau will once again partner with the Jefferson Fareway store and Rueter’s Red Power in Grand Junction to conduct it’s 6th annual “cram the cab” food drive. This year’s event will run from June 12-19. The goal is to cram a tractor cab from Rueter’s with non-perishable groceries and hygiene items that will be donated to the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center.
Customers shopping at the grocery store have several ways to donate. One way is to round up your grocery bill to the nearest dollar. By rounding up your purchase, you are helping those who struggle with hunger in the county. Another way to donate is to purchase a $15 pre-packed bag of non-perishable food items that Fareway has assembled.
In addition, monetary donations, food, and hygiene items may be dropped off at the Greene County Farm Bureau office at 201 E. Harrison St in Jefferson June 12-19.
One out of every eight Iowans struggle with hunger. The local food pantry always sees an increased demand during the summer months due to schools not in session.
By working together, we can help meet the needs of those in the county who are struggling to put food on the table for their families,” a Farm Bureau spokesperson said. “Please help Greene County Farm Bureau fill an entire tractor cab during our upcoming ‘cram the cab’ event.”
